Morzine is Closed….

All of a sudden it feels as if Morzine is closed.  Last week was the week of closing events with the restaurants, bars, and even the slopes themselves having closing parties.  There was everything from hog roasts, to 80s and 90s discos, bands, and just free drinks.  We took part in some, but there were plenty of other things to do as we had visitors.

After Saturday’s closing party at Avoriaz it seems as if everyone is going home or on holiday.  There are still a couple of bars and restaurants open, but most of the shops have closed.  It’s as if Morzine has closed and gone back to the Morzinois.  The whole winter has been fabulous, but it does seem to have gone quite quickly.

Whilst we start to wash and pack up our skiing things and sort out the apartment, we decided to have a couple of days in Lausanne.  The weather was glorious with bright sunshine and 24 degrees. We drove around Lake Geneva to spend two nights in a hotel looking back to where we have been skiing all winter.  The mountains are still snow-capped but the predominant view was the lake and all the deciduous trees and flowers are now out.

We are using the time now to plan everything for the rest of our travels.  We are looking at maps, guide books etc. And planning what we want to do and when.  Whilst we are not trying to over plan, we want to book our trips to Bhutan, New Zealand, the Galápagos Islands, and Macchu Pichu before we go so we don’t miss out.

We’ll be back in the UK briefly, so will catch up with as many people as possible before travelling to India on 17 May.  We probably won’t post too much until then as it will be mainly organising things, but we will be back later in May…
