Busy Having Fun

The last week has been turning into a bit of a party as bands and festivals come to the slopes, and we make the most of the sun that we have.

Firstly we went with our local friend Jay on one of our “free” days in another resort.  In bright sunshine we went to Morillons, and visited the whole of the Grand Massif range.  The Grand Massif is effectively six towns linked across a few mountains, and range from some beautiful traditional towns like Samoens to an amazing 1960s resort called Flaine, which looks like a Russian gulag.

We did a lot of skiing that day.  There were some fantastic cruising runs through trees before we hit the far end of Flaine and a bowl full of powder snow that we ended up skiing three times!  We ended up with the home run called the Cascade.  Although a blue run, it was 9 miles in all and was pretty tiring.  We must have covered nearly thirty miles in all.

The last week has been the start of Rock the Piste and Snowboxx.  These are a range of music events across the whole of the Portes Du Soleil.  It started with Fat Boy Slim in the main festival on Sunday night in a snow storm which we didn’t see, but we have skied across to see a couple of acts on the slopes in Chatel and Champery – one in a snowstorm and one in fog.  Hopefully we will get to see a few more.

We have another run of guests coming soon; and with more snow and sun forecast, we are looking for a great few weeks.
